These cookies are so light and crisp they melt in your mouth. Don't be alarmed by the ammonia smell while cooking...it bakes out of the cookies. Enjoy!

Ingredients

1 cup shortening
1 cup butter, softened
2 teaspoons baking ammonia, crushed fine
2 cups sugar
2 1/2 cups flour, sifted
1 cup shredded coconut

How To Make coconut ammonia cookies

Step 1

Cream shortening and butter. Add sugar and crushed ammonia. Add flour and coconut.

Step 2

Roll into small balls.
Step 3

Bake 10 minutes at 325-350 degrees.
Step 4

You can purchase bakers ammonia at the drug store.
