Ingredients
- COOKIES
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup butter (softened)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 - egg
- 3/4 cup buttermilk or sour milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cocoa, unsweetened
- BROWNED BUTTER GLAZE
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup confectioners sugar, sifted
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1-2 tablespoon hot water
How To Make cocoa drop cookies with browned butter glaze

Step 1FOR COOKIES: - Mix thoroughly shortening, butter, egg, and sugar. Stir in milk. Sift dry ingredients together, then stir into wet ingredients. - Chill dough at least one hour. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2" apart on lightly greased (or parchment covered) cookie sheets. Bake until almost no imprint remains when lightly touched, about 8-10 minutes. Frost when cool.

Step 2FOR GLAZE: - Melt butter until golden brown. Blend in sifted confectioners sugar and vanilla. Stir in hot water to make a good spreading consistency.
