This recipe is from "Capitol Cookies" with recipes from every state capital & Washington, DC. this recipe was submitted by Calvary Chapel de Santa Fe, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Maureen Nash, Chairperson. Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- - jam, any flavor
- - powdered sugar
- SELF-RISING FLOUR SUBSTITUTE:
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda (optional)
How To Make new mexico's clotchky (thumbprint cookies)

Step 1Whip together cream cheese and butter. Add flour. Roll dough into a long log and wrap in waxed paper. Chill until firm.

Step 2Slice into 1/4" slices. Put thumbprint in middle of each slice once slices are placed onto cookie sheet.

Step 3Spoon 1/2 teaspoon jam into thumbprint of each slice. Bake until golden in a 350-degree oven for 10 minutes. Cool. Sprinkle with sifted powdered sugar.
