NEW MEXICO: Munch your way across the USA. Bennie Shaw, the state of New Mexico is now represented. This recipe is from "Capitol Cookies" with recipes from every state capital & Washington, DC. this recipe was submitted by Calvary Chapel de Santa Fe, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Maureen Nash, Chairperson. Ingredients For new mexico's clotchky (thumbprint cookies)

8 ozcream cheese, softened

1 stickbutter, softened

1 cself-rising flour
-
jam, any flavor
-
powdered sugar
- SELF-RISING FLOUR SUBSTITUTE:

1 call purpose flour

1 1/2 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspsalt
-
1/4 tspbaking soda (optional)
How To Make new mexico's clotchky (thumbprint cookies)

1Whip together cream cheese and butter. Add flour. Roll dough into a long log and wrap in waxed paper. Chill until firm.

2Slice into 1/4" slices. Put thumbprint in middle of each slice once slices are placed onto cookie sheet.

3Spoon 1/2 teaspoon jam into thumbprint of each slice. Bake until golden in a 350-degree oven for 10 minutes. Cool. Sprinkle with sifted powdered sugar.
