This recipe is from "Capitol Cookies" with recipes from every state capital & Washington, DC. this recipe was submitted by Calvary Chapel de Santa Fe, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Maureen Nash, Chairperson. Ingredients For new mexico's clotchky (thumbprint cookies)

  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 1 stick
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
    self-rising flour
  • jam, any flavor
  • powdered sugar
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda (optional)

How To Make new mexico's clotchky (thumbprint cookies)

    Whip together cream cheese and butter. Add flour. Roll dough into a long log and wrap in waxed paper. Chill until firm.

    Slice into 1/4" slices. Put thumbprint in middle of each slice once slices are placed onto cookie sheet.

    Spoon 1/2 teaspoon jam into thumbprint of each slice. Bake until golden in a 350-degree oven for 10 minutes. Cool. Sprinkle with sifted powdered sugar.
