  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 1/2 cups chocolate chips or chunks

How To Make classic chocolate chip cookies

  • Step 1
    preheat oven to 375.
  • Step 2
in bowl of electric mixer with paddle, cream together butter and sugars until well blended and fluffy.
  • Step 3
add eggs, one at a time, mix in vanilla and beat until well incorporated.
  • Step 4
add flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and mix until just combined.
  • Step 5
gently fold in chocolate chips or chunks and nuts. you can use mini chocolate chips and the regular chocolate chips together it works great.
  • Step 6
transfer dough to clean work surface and gently mix dough by hand to ensure even distribution of ingredients.
  • Step 7
scoop dough (about a tablespoon each) onto cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Step 8
i used one of those spring release cookie scoopers it makes it so much easier.
  • Step 9
also, in between batches i would keep the bowl of dough in the fridge to keep cool.
  • Step 10
bake in preheated oven about 10-12 minutes, depending on how gooey and rawish you like the interior, until very lightly browned, taking care not to over bake.
  • Step 11
i had my rack in the middle part of my oven and it took about 11 minutes.
  • Step 12
only bake 1 pan at a time. let it cool on rack and store what you don't immediately eat in a airtight container.
