This is my fall version of Chess Bars. These turned out with a soft chewy bottom layer and a creamy warm cinnamon-spice topping. They smell so good while baking. Enjoy!

Ingredients For cinnamon spice chess bars

  • 1 box
    spice cake mix
  • 4 lg
    eggs, divided
  • 1/2 c
    butter, melted
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 pkg
    cream cheese (8 oz), softened
  • 3 c
    powdered sugar
  • 3/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    ginger

How To Make cinnamon spice chess bars

    Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Combine cake mix, 1 egg, butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla in bowl and mix well. Batter will be very thick. Spread in prepared 9x13 inch pan sprayed with non stick cooking spray.

    Combine remaining 3 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla, cream cheese and powdered sugar in bowl and beat well. Reserve 3/4 cup batter.
  • Definitely a JAP Rorschach Test.

    In 3/4 cup batter, add spices and mix. Drop dollops of batter and swirl with knife. Bake for 50 minutes.
