Ingredients
- 2 cups butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar, divided
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts or almonds
How To Make cinnamon shortbread cookies

Step 1Cream the butter; gradually add 1 cup sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer. Add the flour and vanilla; beat well.

Step 2Press the mixture into an ungreased 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan.

Step 3Combine remaining 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts or almonds in a small bowl; stir well.

Step 4Sprinkle over the dough; press the mixture lightly into the dough with your fingertips.

Step 5Bake at 350º for 30 minutes. Let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Cut into squares.
