Found this recipe a few years back. They store great. And look pretty on a cookie plate.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup cooking oil
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • - different colors of decorating sugar
  • CHRISTMAS SUGAR COOKIES

How To Make christmas sugar cookies

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Step 2
    Cream together the granulated sugar, powdered sugar, butter, oil, and vanilla. Beat in eggs.
  • Step 3
    Combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Gradually add to the sugar butter mixture. Refrigerate for about one hour to make dough easier to handle.
  • Step 4
    Roll into small balls and roll in decorators sugar. Place balls on baking sheet. Find a vase or glass with decorative bottom and flatten each cookie ball down.
  • Step 5
    This should leave an imprint on the cookie. Bake in 375 degree oven for about 10 minutes or until edges begin to brown.
  • Step 6
    Cool on baking sheet briefly then transfer to wire rack.
