chocolate pecan pie bars

I LOVE pecan pie, and adding chocolate is sinfully delicious! These can be very rich, so they are another one that I like to cut into small squares and place into decorative paper or foil candy cups. So pretty and festive on holiday cookie trays! Photo from bing images.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups - flour
  • 2 Tbl. - packed light brown sugar
  • 1 - stick cold butter, cut up
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/2 cup - light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup - packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup - baking cocoa
  • 2 Tbl. - butter, melted
  • 1 tsp. - vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp. - salt
  • 1 cup - coarsely chopped pecans
  • - powdered sugar

How To Make chocolate pecan pie bars

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 350. In large bowl, whisk together flour and the 2 Tbl. brown sugar til well mixed. With pastry blender, cut in butter til coarse crumbs. Press onto bottom and about 1" up sides of ungreased 9" square pan. Bake 10-12 minutes or until set. Remove from oven. With back of spoon, lightly press crust into corners and against sides of pan. In small bowl, lightly beat eggs, corn syrup, remaining brown sugar, cocoa, 2 Tbl. butter, vanilla and salt until well blended. Stir in pecans. Pour mixture over warm crust. Continue baking 25 minutes or until pecan filling is set. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Sprinkle heavily to moderately with powdered sugar. Cut into bars or small squares.
