These cookies taste like little chocolate cakes in cookie form. My Mom made them often and I am sure cherishing her handwritten recipe now that she no longer is here to make them for me.

Ingredients

  • COOKIES
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 - chocolate squares, unsweetened, melted
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 2/3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
  • FROSTING
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons light cream
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped

How To Make chocolate nut drops

  • Step 1
    Cream shortening, chocolate, eggs, vanilla. In another bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Blend dry ingredients alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts.
  • Step 2
    Drop by teaspoon on greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Frost with frosting.
  • Step 3
    For frosting, blend cocoa and butter together. Add remaining ingredients except nuts and mix well. Add chopped nuts and blend.
