Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter flavor shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 - egg, separated
- 1 - 1 ounce square unsweetened chocolate, melted, cooled
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup chopped nuts
- 30 - chocolate kisses
How To Make chocolate kiss thumbprint

Step 1Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2Grease baking sheet with butter flavored shortening.

Step 3Set aside.

Step 4Combine butter flavored shortening, sugar, milk, vanilla and egg yolk.

Step 5Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended.

Step 6Add melted chocolate and mix well.

Step 7Combine flour and salt.

Step 8Add to chocolate mixture and mix well until well blended.

Step 9Form dough into 1 inch balls.

Step 10Beat egg white slightly with fork and coat balls with egg white.

Step 11Roll in chopped nuts.

Step 12Place 2 inches apart on baking sheet.

Step 13Press thumb gently in center of each cookie.

Step 14Bake at 350 degrees for 7 minutes.

Step 15Remove from oven.

Step 16Place chocolate kiss in each thumbprint and return to oven for 1 more minute.

Step 17Remove to cooling rack. (Makes 2 1/2 dozen 2 inch cookies.)
