chocolate devil dogs
Kids love these as well as adults. They are like little iced cakes. If left out on a plate, they are gone in no time. Keep in a cool place; if too warm, the filling melts. Can be kept in the fridge for storing overnight, that's about as long as you will have them if not gone before you put them there. For fun and color, you can separate filling into a few different bowls and add a different color of food coloring and or flavors to each bowl. They look nice, and the kids love to pick out different ones. I like orange, strawberry, and mint.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
These are a fantastic old-fashioned treat that'll take you back to your childhood. The soft, cake-like cookies are fudgy and not overly sweet. They're sandwiched with a sweet and rich marshmallow filling. We made them as directed in the recipe, but the dough holds its shape and could be made in the more traditional Devil Dog shape. Bake a batch of these and watch them disappear fast. It's a homemade twist on a store-bought favorite.
