We used this recipe at Christmas for years. It was always a wonderful addition to our cookie tray. The cookie tray in our family is a pressed glass tray about 20" round. It is huge and has been passed from Gramma Bea to Kelli because we've been having a lot of holidays at their place.

    chocolate squares melted
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 2 c
  • 1/3 c
  • 1/2 c
    nuts (optional)

How to Make Chocolate Crinkles


  1. Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs, then the melted chocolate. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Stir in nuts.
  2. Chill for 2 to 3 hours. Form dough into 1 inch balls and roll in powdered sugar before baking. Bake at 350 for about 10 min.
