Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    shortening, butter flavor
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 Tbsp
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 11.5 oz
    milk chocolate chips
  • 3/4 c
    pecans, chopped

How to Make Chocolate Chip Pecan Squares

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oven to 350.
  2. Grease a 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan with butter flavor shortening; Set aside.
  3. Cream butter flavor shortening, brown sugar, egg, milk and vanilla in large bowl at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended.
  4. Reduce speed to low; Add flour.
  5. Stir in one cup chocolate chips and 1/2 cup nuts; Spread in pan.
  6. Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes, or until lightly browned; Remove from oven.
  7. Sprinkle with one cup chocolate chips.
  8. Wait 5 minutes, or until chips soften, then spread evenly.
  9. Sprinkle with other 1/4 cup nuts and cool completely - Cut into 2x2 inch squares.
