Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Elise Malm

Growing up I never liked oatmeal cookies because they had raisins. But when I found this recipe under the lid of the Quaker Oats Box, I thought I'd substitute the raisins with chocolate and see if I liked it. And I LOVE THEM!

How to Make Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

  1. Beat together butter & sugars, until creamy. Then once creamy beat for another minute on med-high speed.
  2. Add eggs & vanilla. Beat until well incorporated.
  3. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt; mix together very well. Then add the flour mixture to the butter & sugar mixture. Beat slowly until well incorporated. DO NOT OVER-BEAT (meaning once it is fully incorporated, stop the machine and move to next step)
  4. Stir in oats and chocolate chips. Beat slowly until incorporated.
  5. Drop by rounded Tablespoons onto un-greased cookie sheet. And bake for 9-12 minutes. Longer for crispier cookies, less time for softer cookies. (I prefer the softer ones)
  6. Once the cookies are done, let them sit on the cookie sheet for at least one minute and then move to a cooling rack. Enjoy!!
