chocolate chip & m&m bars

This is one of my husband's favorites! If you have a favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, you can use it to create these bars. Quick note: I tried to just melt the caramels and drizzle them instead of chopping them into quarters. Do NOT do this. The caramel turned out kinda hard and I definitely did not like how it turned out as well as when I did it the other way. Maybe if I had drizzled it AFTER baking it would have been better.

How To Make chocolate chip & m&m bars

  • Step 1
Heat oven to 375. In large bowl, combine brown sugar, sugar, butter and shortening. Add vanilla and egg; beat well.
  • Step 2
In separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Add to sugar mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Step 3
Spread cookie dough into an ungreased 13x9 inch pan. Sprinkle with M&Ms and caramel pieces. Press candies lightly into the dough.
  • Step 4
