This was handed down to me from my Mom who got it from her Mom. We have enjoyed these cookies for many years and would now like to share them with everyone. Hope you will enjoy them as much as we have.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    shortening
  • 2 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 c
    water, warm
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 4 c
    flour
  • 1 large
    chocolate chips
  • 1 c
    walnut halves (optional)

How to Make chocolate chip cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Melt shortening and let cool, when cooled add brown sugar and warm water. Cream together. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well and set aside
  2. In a seperate bowl combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  3. gradually combine liquid ingredients with dry. When completely mixed add your chocolate chips and nuts. With a cookie scoop drop onto foiled lined cookie sheet or use stoneware cookie sheet without foil.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 14 Minutes.
