Ingredients
- 1 cup crisco (mostly butter)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 - eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 cups oatmeal, uncooked
- 1 teaspoon hot water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup coconut
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
How To Make chocolate chip cookies

Step 1Cream sugars and shortening. Add eggs one at a time, beat well. Add vanilla.

Step 2Stir baking soda into hot water. Add to cream mixture above.

Step 3Whisk salt, flour together. Add coconut and oatmeal and mix well.

Step 4Stir dry ingredients into creamed mixture just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.

Step 5Bake at 350 degrees until light golden brown, about 10-13 minutes.
