My mom always made these bars when we had family get togethers and everyone loved them. I started making these for my children when they were very young and they would eat the whole pan within a day. These bars are a good substitute for chocolate chip cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups oats, quick cooking
  • 1 package chocolate chips

How To Make chocolate chip bars

  • Step 1
    In mixing bowl combine butter and sugars and beat until fluffy. Add milk and vanilla, beat till blended in. Add eggs one at a time till well blended.
  • Step 2
    Add baking powder, baking soda and flour, mix until well blended. Add oatmeal mix in with a wooden spoon once mixed add chocolate chips and mix in.
  • Step 3
    Grease a 16x11 cookie sheet; spoon mix onto sheet and spead out. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25 minutes or until brown; I check them after 15 minutes.
  • Step 4
    If you have a bigger cookie sheet I make 1 and half batches.
