My mom always made these bars when we had family get togethers and everyone loved them. I started making these for my children when they were very young and they would eat the whole pan within a day. These bars are a good substitute for chocolate chip cookies.

Ingredients

1 c
butter, softened
1 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c
sugar
2 tsp
milk
2
eggs
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
baking powder
2 c
all purpose flour
2 c
oats, quick cooking
1 pkg
chocolate chips

How to Make Chocolate Chip Bars

Step-by-Step

  • 1In mixing bowl combine butter and sugars and beat until fluffy. Add milk and vanilla, beat till blended in. Add eggs one at a time till well blended.
  • 2Add baking powder, baking soda and flour, mix until well blended. Add oatmeal mix in with a wooden spoon once mixed add chocolate chips and mix in.
  • 3Grease a 16x11 cookie sheet; spoon mix onto sheet and spead out. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25 minutes or until brown; I check them after 15 minutes.
  • 4If you have a bigger cookie sheet I make 1 and half batches.
