These cookies are terrific and the best of both chocolate chip and sugar combined. Ohhhhh heavenly!!! :) Bake some up for your Valentine Angel's and taste the Love! XOXOXO Recipe submitted by Lois Brehmer from the 1987 Lutheran Chapel of the Cross church cookbook.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup walnuts
  • 6 ounces package semisweet chocolate chips
  • - granulated sugar (for rolling)

How To Make chocolate chip angel cookies

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350* and lightly grease cookie sheets.
  • Step 2
    Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt in small bowl.
  • Step 3
    Beat butter, shortening, and sugars in large bowl until blended. Add egg; beat well; add vanilla. Add flour mixture; blend well.
  • Step 4
    Stir in walnuts and chocolate pieces. Roll dough into walnut-size balls; roll in granulated sugar. Place about 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets.
  • Step 5
    Bake in preheated 350* oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until firm to touch. Cool on wire racks.
