Chocolate Banana Brownies

This recipe makes a dense but still cake like brownie with a strong banana flavor. I am not sure where I got this recipe but I have been making these for a long time.

And yes, it really does take only 1/2 cup of flour. Be sure to test before removing from oven. Depending on your oven it may need to bake longer than 40 minutes.

butter, melted and cooled
1 c
1/4 c
2 large
eggs, lightly beaten
1 Tbsp
1 1/2 tsp
vanilla extract
1/2 c
all purpose flour
1 tsp
baking powder
1/4 tsp
1 c
mashed ripe banana
1 c
chopped walnuts


a little powdered sugar

How to Make Chocolate Banana Brownies


  • 1In a bowl, combine butter, sugar and cocoa. Stir in eggs, milk and vanilla. Blend in flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in bananas and nuts.
  • 2Pour into a greased 9 inch square baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until brownies test done. Cool on a wire rack. Just before serving, dust with confectioners' sugar if desired.
