"Everyone" at school loved Chinese Chew day in the cafeteria. I made sure I had lunch money on that day!! Most of the recipes in my KISD cookbook do not show the preparation time or number of servings. Some show cook time, some don't. This recipe doesn't have any of those details, but believe me. You will not care. They are SO good!

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 - eggs
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 cup coconut
- 2 cups washed and dried raisins
- 2 cups chopped nuts
- 2 teaspoons vanilla - a little almond flavor can be added

Step 1Cream butter and sugar. Add remaining ingredients.

Step 2If drop cookies are to be made, chill dough before dropping on a slightly greased sheet pan. If Chews or bars or strips are to be made, press dough onto a slightly greased and floured sheet and bake at 325 to 350 degrees until well set and a light brown. Do not overcook.

Step 3Remove from oven and, while hot, brush with a powdered sugar and water glaze.
