My sister in law served these at Thanksgiving one year. I have made them in the fall each year, ever since.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup oil or shortening
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • - extra sugar for rolling cookie balls in
  • ***PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES***

How To Make chewy ginger snaps

  • Step 1
    Mix sugar, oil, egg and molasses in mixer.
  • Step 2
    Mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  • Step 3
    Roll into little balls. Roll each ball in sugar. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Let cool on cooling rack. (Note may need a little less time unless you like crispy cookies)
