yield Yield: 7 dozen cookies

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup shortening
2 - eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup chopped dates
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda
- crushed cornflakes and maraschino cherries

How To Make cherry winks

Step 1

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, milk, vanilla, nuts and dates.

Step 2

Sift and add dry ingredients.
Step 3

Form balls the size of a walnut. Roll in crushed cornflakes. Flatten slightly and top with half a maraschino cherry.
Step 4

Bake at 375^ for 10-12 minutes
