Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c
    sifted pillsbury best enriched flour
  • 1 tsp
    double-acting baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 3/4 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 Tbsp
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    pecans, chopped
  • 1 c
    dates, chopped
  • 1/3 c
    maraschino cherries chopped

How to Make CHERRY WINKS

Step-by-Step

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, soda, and salt together
  2. Combine shortening and sugar, cream well.
  3. Add eggs, milk, vanilla, beat well.
  4. Blend in dry ingredients gradually; mix thoroughly.
  5. Add pecans, dates, cherries.
  6. Shape into balls using 1 level tablespoon of dough for each cookie.
  7. Crush 2 2/1 cups Kellogg's Corn Flakes or Kellogg's Pep. Toll each ball of dough in corn flakes or pep.
  8. Place on greased baking sheet. Top each cookie with 1/2 cherry.
  9. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
