Got the idea from my Land O'Lakes baking book. Followed the original recipe quite closely.

Ingredients

1/2 c
sugar
1/3 c
butter, softened
1/4 c
brown sugar
1
egg
1 tsp
vanilla
1 c
flour
1/2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 c
dried cherries, coursely chopped
1/2 c
white baking chips
1/2 c
chopped pecans

DRIZZLE

1/4 c
white baking chips
1/2 tsp
shortening

How to Make Cherry Vanilla Bars

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat oven to 350. Grease 8" square pan.
  • 2Combine sugar, butter, brown sugar, egg and vanilla in large bowl. Add flour and baking powder. Beat until well mixed.
  • 3Stir in cherries, chips and pecans.
  • 4Spread evenly into prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
  • 5Make drizzle by melting chips and shortening in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until mostly melted; then stir until smooth.
  • 6Drizzle over bars. Cool completely and cut into bars.
