Ingredients

  • SCALD
  • 1 cup milk; cool to lukewarm
  • COMBINE
  • 5 cups unsifted flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • CUT IN
  • 1 cup oleo to flour mixture
  • DISSOLVE
  • 2 packages yeast in 1/2 cup water

How To Make cherry pinwheels

  • Step 1
    Add: yeast, milk and 1 egg to flour mixture.
  • Step 2
    Beat till well blended. Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight.
  • Step 3
    Take small portion of dough and roll about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into 3 or 4 inch squares. Make slits in corners of squares as for pinwheels.
  • Step 4
    Put cherry pie filling in center. Take every other point of dough to center over the filling and pinch together.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 350 degrees for 8-12 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Cool. Frost. I use powdered sugar frosting with almond flavoring.
