My Grandma's personal favorite to have with tea every Christmas. A recipe passed down through the years and not changed one bit.

1 cunsalted butter, room temperature

1 csugar

1egg
-
2 tspvanilla extract

2 2/3 cflour

1/2 tspbaking powder

pinchsalt

1 ccandied red cherries, chopped coarsely
How To Make cheery cherry christmas cookies

1Beat butter & sugar for about 3 minutes with an electric mixer, or until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and beat 1 minute more.

2Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Add gradually to the butter mixture, making sure not to beat too much and stir in cherries by hand.

3Divide the dough into thirds; roll each into a log. Cover in waxed paper or parchment paper, then plastic wrap. Chill overnight or freeze until ready to use, for up to a month (be sure to thaw out if frozen).

4When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375 degrees. Slice into ¼” slices and bake 375 10 minutes, until barely brown. Store wrapped in refrigerator or freeze until ready to thaw and slice.
