char’s chocolate chip cookies
Updated on Mar 6, 2023
I research each ingredients quantity and the effect it would produce in the development of this recipe. I was tired of waiting for the famous recipe I used to use to chill before baking a decent cookie. This recipe can be mixed and baked right away without the cookies spreading. The cookies remain soft inside but crispy outside. They are also thicker than what the other famous recipe produces. My family loves these cookies and I hope yours will too!

Ingredients
- 2/3 cup sugar, granulated
- 1 1/3 cups light brown sugar
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/8 cup milk
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 12 ounces chocolate chips
How To Make char’s chocolate chip cookies
-
Step 1Cream together the sugars, butter, and shortening until light and fluffy.
-
Step 2Add eggs and the yolk to the sugar mixture until just incorporated.
-
Step 3Mix the salt, cornstarch, and baking soda into the sugar and egg mixture until evenly incorporated. Add the milk at this time to make the dough easier to work with and help incorporate the other ingredients.
-
Step 4Add the flour 1 cup at a time, mixing until just barely mixed in and scraping down the sides of the bowl, if needed. After the last cup of flour is added, mix just enough to be sure it is all well combined. Pour the chocolate chips in and mix with wooden spoon or a heavy stand mixer.
-
Step 5Cookies may be baked now or the dough can be refrigerated for even thicker cookies. When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Form the dough into 1 1/2-inch balls. Bake 8-10 minutes.
