This recipe has been handed down in my family for generations. My son loves it and so does my brother. I am not so much a fan but I do love my grandmother Catherine Batten's sugar cookies

  • 1 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 3/4 c
    strong coffee

How to Make Catherine Batten's Molasses Cookies


  1. Make coffee and allow to cool
  2. cream butter and sugar
  3. add rest of ingredients in order given
  4. drop by tsp on greased cookie sheet. if using coated cookie sheet then no need to grease.
  5. sprinkle with sugar
  6. bake 12-15 minutes at 350
