Ingredients
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 - egg seperated
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
- 20 - caramels
- 1/2 cup half and half
How To Make caramel nut thumbprint cookies

Step 1preheat oven 325

Step 2combine sugar,butter,and shortning beat until light and fluffy.

Step 3add vanilla and egg yolk mix well

Step 4slowly add flour,cocoa, and baking powder

Step 5in a small bowl beat egg white till foamy. put pecans in seperate bowl

Step 6roll dough in 1 inch balls. dip in egg whites then roll in pecans. press thumbprint in middle

Step 7bake for 12- 14 minutes or until set.

Step 8meanwhile, in a saucepan combine caramels and half and half. cook on med/low heat till melted

Step 9set aside to cool

Step 10spoon into center of cookie. filling will set when cool
