Delicious caramel cookie bars with a hint of peanut butter.

Ingredients

  • 2-1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • CARAMEL SAUCE
  • 5 ounces evaporated milk
  • 1 bag (14 ounce) caramels
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter

How To Make caramel cookie bars

  • Step 1
    Combine dry ingredients in small bowl. Beat butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla in large mixing bowl until creamy.
  • Step 2
    To large bowl, add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Gradually add flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread half of dough in greased 9 X 13 inch pan. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Remove from oven.
  • Step 3
    While the cookie dough is baking, melt caramels and evaporated milk in a double boiler. Add peanut butter after caramels are melted. Melt thoroughly. Spread over baked cookie dough base.
  • Step 4
    With the remaining cookie dough, drop by spoonfuls on top of caramel mixture.
  • Step 5
    Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
