Ingredients
- 2-1/4 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- CARAMEL SAUCE
- 5 ounces evaporated milk
- 1 bag (14 ounce) caramels
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
How To Make caramel cookie bars

Step 1Combine dry ingredients in small bowl. Beat butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla in large mixing bowl until creamy.

Step 2To large bowl, add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Gradually add flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread half of dough in greased 9 X 13 inch pan. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Remove from oven.

Step 3While the cookie dough is baking, melt caramels and evaporated milk in a double boiler. Add peanut butter after caramels are melted. Melt thoroughly. Spread over baked cookie dough base.

Step 4With the remaining cookie dough, drop by spoonfuls on top of caramel mixture.

Step 5Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
