How To Make caramel chocolate pecan bars
-
Step 1CRUST: In large mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar and butter. Beat at medium speed until particles are fine, 2 to 3 minutes. Press on bottom of ungreased 9 X 13 inch baking pan. Sprinkle nuts over crust.
-
Step 2FILLING: In a small saucepan, combine sugar and butter. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until mixture comes to full boil, 4 to 5 minutes. Boil, stirring constantly, until candy thermometer reaches 242 degrees F or small amount of mixture dropped into ice water forms a firm ball, about 1 minute. Pour over pecans and crust.
-
Step 3Bake at 350 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes, or until entire caramel layer is bubbly. Immediately sprinle with chocolate and butterscotch chips. Let stand 3 to 5 minutes to melt chips. Swirl chips with tip of knife, leaving some whole for a marbled effect. Cool. Cut into bars.
