My daughter and I created this recipe while we were baking cookies to send to the Army Hospital in Afghanistan for Thanksgiving. We couldn't believe how deliciously they turned out!

brown sugar

granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 c
all purpose flour
3 c
old-fashioned oatmeal
6-oz pkg
caramel chips
1 c
chopped dried apples
1/4 c
raw sugar

How to Make Caramel Apple Oatmeal Squares


  • 1Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl, cream together butter or margarine and sugars.
  • 2Add baking soda, salt, eggs, vanilla; blend well.
  • 3Stir in flour and oatmeal until all dry ingredients are moistened. Add chips and apples.
  • 4Line 9 x 13"baking pan with foil, spray with cooking spray. Press dough into pan, sprinkle top with raw or coarse sparkling sugar. Bake 25-30 minutes, until lightly browned; center will be slightly sunken and soft to touch. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then use foil to transfer to cooling rack. Cut into bars when completely cooled.
