  • 2 c
    brown sugar
  • 3 large
  • 1 c
    shortening or lard ( i use butter flavor crisco)
  • 4 c
    flour, unbleached
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    cream of tarter
  • 1 c
    walnuts, chopped

How to Make Butterscotch Cookies


  1. Mix all ingredients except for the nuts thoroughly by mixer.
    Stir in the nuts by hand
  2. Roll the dough into ropes about 2 inches thick
    Cut in thin slices.
    Cross press with a fork to make a design if desired.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 12 minutes
