I came up with this recipe about 35 years ago and people still find it to be absolutely delicious and easy to make.

beaten egg
2 stick
softened butter (only use real butter)
1 Tbsp
vanilla extract
1 c
granulated sugar
2 c
all purpose flour
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1 1/2 tsp
baking powder
2 c
chopped roasted pecans

How to Make Butter Pecan Cookies


  • 1Cream together the butter, sugar and vanilla; then beat in the egg.
  • 2Combine the flour, baking soda and baking powder and slowly add to the egg mixture and mix well.
  • 3Stir in the nuts and make sure they are fully incorporated. Form the dough into a log and wrap well in waxed paper.
  • 4Refrigerate until firm (2-4 hours). Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and slice the cookies into 1/4 inch rounds. Place on a non-greased cookie sheet and bake 7-10 minutes until lightly brown on the edges.
