Step 1MELT BUTTER IN A MEDIUM SAUCEPAN, POUR INTO A LARGE MIXING BOWL AND SET ASIDE. POUR PECANS INTO THE SAUCEPAN, STIR TO COAT WITH REMAING BUTTER RESIDUE. COOK OVER MEDIUM HEAT, STIRRING, UNTIL LIGHTLY BROWNED. SET ASIDE AND COOL COMPLETELY.

Step 2WHEN THE BUTTER IN THE BOWL HAS COOLED. ADD SUGARS AND BEAT UNTIL WELL BLENDED. BEAT IN THE EGGS AND VANILLA, UNTIL SMOOTH AND WELL BLENDED. SLOWLY BEAT IN THE FLOUR, BAKING SODA AND SALT UNTIL BLENDED. STIR IN PECANS AND CHOCOLATE CHIPS.

Step 3SCOOP TABLESPOONS ONTO LIGHTLY GREASED COOKIE SHEET. BAKE IN PRE HEATED 350 OVEN FOR 9-12 MINUTES.
