How to Make Burnt Sugar Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Put 2 cups sugar in skillet, stir until melted.
  2. Remove from heat when molasses has become dark brown.
  3. Pour 1 cup boiling water into molasses after removing from heat.
  4. Mix eggs, lard, ginger, sour milk and salt while molasses cools.
  5. Put soda in molasses and stir well.
  6. Pour together and work in flour to stiff dough.
  7. Drop on baking sheet by teaspoonful and bake in 375 degree oven.
