brown sugar drops
This cookie followed my son through his school years and is still a favorite of my husband and his co-workers. They are a soft cookie that is wonderful with milk,coffee, tea or just reaching into the cookie jar. I hope you enjoy them as much as my family has these past 30 years.

Ingredients
- 1 cup soft shortening
- 2 cups brown sugar,firmly packed ( i like a mix of dark and light, but you can use what you have on hand)
- 2 - large eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk ( or sour milk 1/2 tblsp vinegar to milk and let set for about 15 minutes)
- 3 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt

Step 1Mix well shortening, sugar and eggs; Stir in buttermilk or sour milk Combine with sifted flour, baking soda and salt Chill dough for 20-30 minutes Drop spoonfuls on greased baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake in hot oven (400 degrees) for 8-10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen
