These cookies are very good and are good for you too...Grandma told me so!

I like to put cream cheese frosting on top of cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c
    bran flakes cereal
  • 1 3/4 c
    sifted all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    ginger
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine ; softened
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/2 tsp
    soda
  • 1/3 c
    molasses

How to Make Bran Spiced Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Crush cereal.
  2. Cream together : shortening and the sugar ; add the egg ; mix thoroughly.
  3. Stir soda into the molasses and add to the creamed mixture.
  4. Sift together : sifted flour and add salt , ginger and cinnamon ; Add to creamed mixture.
  5. Add crushed cereal to the mixture.
  6. Chill for 1 hour until firm to roll.
  7. Cut 1/4" thick slices and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet , 2" apart.
  8. Bake @ 375° for 12-15 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
  9. Can be frosted if desired.
