I developed these sophisticated cookies for my son, who loves chocolate and cherries. These shipped well while he was in Afghanistan. These are chocolate, chocolate chip cookies with pecans and dried cherries. Super yummy and not too sweet, better than chocolate covered cherries or Black Forest cake!
2In large bowl, stir together well, flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. (you can sift if you like to mix cocoa more easily, but stirring works)
3In med. bowl cream butter, sugars and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs, beat well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well. Stir in chocolate chips, nuts and cherries.
4Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes, until tops are lightly set.(time can vary depending on where you live) Cool slightly, remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. approx. 5 dozen delightful cookies. Note: Underbake by a minute or two if you are shipping, and they will stay moist and chewy longer :)
