black cookies

These orginally came from a late 1950's Pillsbury cookbook. They may have a "proper" name, but I don't know what it is. I have called them "Black Cookies" since I was little because they are dark and fudgy!

Makes 3-4 dozen
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup butter or margerine
- 3 - squares unsweetened baking chocolate
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 - eggs
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup salted cashew nuts
How To Make black cookies

Step 1Set oven for 350 degrees. Melt shortning and chocolate in a double boiler, over low heat till thoroughly melted, or in a medium microwave safe bowl for 3-4 minutes on medium high heat.

Step 2Stir in the sugar, beat in each egg after adding, beating well. Blend in flour and cashews. Chill dough overnight.

Step 3Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on a lightly greased cookie sheet. When finished baking, allow to cool on wire racks. Enjoy slightly warm with a cold glass of milk!
