These are cookies my Ma, made a Christmas time, but I like them all year around!

Ingredients

1 cup butter or margarine at room temperature
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 - egg yolks, reserve whites
CREAM THESE WELL
2 cups all purpose flour
MIX FLOUR IN WELL. ROLL INTO 1 INCH BALLS.
1 cup well crushed walnuts~pecans or almonds
1 cup maraschino cherries
CUT CHERRIES INTO HALVES.

How To Make bird's nests cookies

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.Roll balls into egg white. Then into the crushed nuts.Place onto parchment paper cookie sheets. Place half cherry into center of thumb print cookie. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Press center down and bake 10-15 minutes longer.

Step 2

cool on cookie rack.
