I use this to drizzle on cookies but you can make it thick to put on cakes and cupcakes as well. In fact I actually thin it out to do the drizzling.

2 c
confectioners' sugar, sift before measuring
1 1/2 Tbsp
butter, softened
1/2 tsp
vanilla extract or almond extract
1/4 tsp
3-4 Tbsp
milk (or more if thinning to drizzle icing)


1Combine all icing ingredients in small mixing bowl.
2Stir until smooth and well blended.
3Adjust for spreading consistency if necessary, adding more milk or more confectioners' sugar.
4Spread icing or drizzle on warm cookies, cake or cupcakes.
