best ever oatmeal-raisin cookies
(1 RATING)
I got this recipe on the back of the butter flavored Crisco can. I have tweaked it just a bit; but it is delicious. The raisins are of course optional, and if you would rather, you may want to use chocolate, butterscotch, cinnamon or peanut butter chips. Alwsys a hit with my family, and requested often from others as well.

Step 1Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
-
Step 2Cream together the shortening with the sugar. Add vanilla extract, milk and egg. Beat at medium speed until combined. Do not overbeat.
-
Step 3In a separate bowl, sift or whisk very well the next 4 dry ingredients. Mix into the creamed mixture, then, stir in the oats, raisins, nuts, etc.
-
Step 4Place 1” -2” balls, about 2” apart on un-greased cookie sheets. Flatten gently to about 3/8 of an inch with palm of your hand.

Step 6NOTE: We like to make 'em big; but if you would prefer, this recipe can be halved very easily, and works just fine. I use air cushioned cookie sheets.
