basic thumbprint cookies

I have found some diffrent ways to make these cookies i will post them sperated , my kids enjoyed making these as much as eating them up i hope you will enjoy these ideals as much as i did I will post the other ideals so keep a eye open for them

Ingredients
- 2/3 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 - egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 - egg whites
- 1 cup finely chopped walnuts
- 1/3-1/2 cup desired flavor jam or preserves
How To Make basic thumbprint cookies

Step 1In a large bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds, add sugar. Beat until combined, scraping bowl occasionally, Beat in egg yolk s and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer, Stir in any remaining flour, Cover and chill for about 1 hour or untill dough is easy to handle.

Step 2Preheat oven to 375*f. Grease cookie sheets. Shape dough into 1 -inch balls, If desired, roll balls in egg whites, Then in walnuts to coat. Place balls 1 inch apart on the prepared cookie sheets.Using your thumb. Make an indentation in each dough balls

Step 3Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 - 12 minutes or until bottoms are light brown, If cookies center puff during baking re-press center with the rounded side of a measuring teaspoon. Transfer to a wire rack; cool completely, Just before serving, fill center with jam

Step 4To store layer unfilled cookies between sheets of wax paper in an airtight container, cover stre at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze up to 3 months
