basic thumbprint cookies

I have found some diffrent ways to make these cookies i will post them sperated , my kids enjoyed making these as much as eating them up i hope you will enjoy these ideals as much as i did I will post the other ideals so keep a eye open for them

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 - egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 - egg whites
  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/3-1/2 cup desired flavor jam or preserves

How To Make basic thumbprint cookies

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds, add sugar. Beat until combined, scraping bowl occasionally, Beat in egg yolk s and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer, Stir in any remaining flour, Cover and chill for about 1 hour or untill dough is easy to handle.
  • Step 2
    Preheat oven to 375*f. Grease cookie sheets. Shape dough into 1 -inch balls, If desired, roll balls in egg whites, Then in walnuts to coat. Place balls 1 inch apart on the prepared cookie sheets.Using your thumb. Make an indentation in each dough balls
  • Step 3
    Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 - 12 minutes or until bottoms are light brown, If cookies center puff during baking re-press center with the rounded side of a measuring teaspoon. Transfer to a wire rack; cool completely, Just before serving, fill center with jam
  • Step 4
    To store layer unfilled cookies between sheets of wax paper in an airtight container, cover stre at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze up to 3 months
