1Cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla.
2Add remaining dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
At this point I divide the dough into several smaller bowls and add ingredients from the optional list to make several types of cookies from the same cookie dough. This is especially handy if you are having a party or for cookie exchanges.
3Chill dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Drop by spoonfuls or a cookie dropper onto parchment paper. Flatten slightly. Bake 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
Yield 30 nice size cookies.
