My aunt gave me this recipe to me when I first started to cook/bake. This is my "go to" cookie recipe because you can make so many different cookies from the same batch of cookie dough and because it's so good.

method Bake
yield 30 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter ( i use butter flavor crisco)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon water (i use x-large eggs so don't need this)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • OPTIONAL: CHOCOLATE CHIPS, COCONUT, NUTS, PEANUT BUTTER, ETC.

How To Make basic one dough, many cookies!

  • Step 1
Cream butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla.
  • Step 2
Add remaining dry ingredients. Don't over mix. At this point I divide the dough into smaller bowls and add ingredients from the optional list. Refrigerate 30 minutes.
  • Step 3
Drop by spoonfuls or a cookie dropper onto parchment paper or pan sprayed with PAM. Flatten slightly. Bake 375 degrees 9 to 11 minutes.
