How To Make bacon cookies with maple and cherries
-
Step 1In a small bowl stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the brown sugar, butter, maple syrup, egg, and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and well blended. Stir in the flour mixture, then add oats, dried cherries, and bacon. Mix well. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour or more.
-
Step 2When eady to bake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a cookie sheet with shortening or nonstick cooking spray. Each large cookie should be about 2 tablespoons of dough. Drop cold dough onto prepared baking sheet spaced 2 inches apart. Bake in the center of the oven until set and lightly golden, 10-12 minutes. Remove from the oven, allow to cool about 2 minutes then carefully transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool. Cookies will be very soft when warm. Yield: about 1 dozen. Store any leftovers in refrigerator due to the meat in the cookie.
