Can't remember where this recipe originated, but I do know that my family has been making them for years especially around the holidays.

2-8 oz
packages pitted dates
8 Tbsp
1 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
4 Tbsp
1 tsp
vanilla extract
2 c
rice crispies

How to Make Aunt Cassie's Date Balls


  • 1Mix together in a 12" saucepan dates, butter, brown sugar and water. Cook over medium-high heat for 10-12 minutes or until thickens to a paste.
  • 2Remove from heat and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix in 2 cups Rice Crispies.
  • 3Allow mixture to cool to touch and then roll into small balls. Roll balls in shredded coconut or powdered sugar.
  • 4Makes about 48 balls.
