Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 - egg
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups finely chopped coconut
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 pound jar of apricot jam/preserves
How To Make apricot squares

Step 1Cream together first 4 ingredients.

Step 2Add next 3 ingredients to make a stiff dough.

Step 3Pat 3/4 of the dough into a 10x15" pan, and pat down firmly. Spread jam/preserves over mixture then sprinkle pecans over jam. Crumble remaining dough over mixture and press in lightly, showing spots of jam.

Step 4Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
